A 21- year- old fashion designer, Zainab Oyeyemi,
who bit a commercial bus driver and caused him much harm! , was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates ’ Court.
The accused , who stays at No. 22, Abule -Iroko St ., in Ogun State, was brought before Magistrate A. A. Fashola on a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor , Sgt. Michael Unah, told the court that the accused , a passenger in a commercial bus, committed the offence on Feb . 20, at 11.00 p .m ., at Ajegunle Bus Stop , Lagos State .
“ The accused unlawfully assaulted Mr Sunday Ezekweka , a commercial bus driver , by giving him a bite on his hand and thereby caused him harm, ’’ he said.
Unah said that the assault followed a disagreement between the driver and the accused person.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State , 2015 (Revised ).
However, the accused pleaded not guilty and was granted a bail of N50, 000 with one surety .
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that section 173 states three years imprisonment for an offender convicted .
Magistrate Fashola adjourned the case until March 19.
